Cookies
Cookies refer to data created by a Web server that is stored on a user’s computer. It provides a way for the Web site to keep track of a user’s patterns and preferences and, with the cooperation of the Web browser, to store them on the user’s own hard disk. The cookies contain a range of URLs (Web addresses) for which they are valid. When the browser encounters those URLs again, it sends those specific cookies to the Web server. For example, if a user’s ID were stored as a cookie, it would save that person from typing in the same information all over again when accessing that service for the second and subsequent time during the same browser session.
The Association’s web server automatically collects some information about you when you request pages from our server, including your IP address. We do this by placing a cookie on your hard drive. Your IP address is a number that is used by computers on the network to identify your computer so that data (such as the web pages you request) can be sent to you. The Association’s web server uses IP addresses and cookies to gather broad demographic information about users in a particular area. This information does not, however, contain anything that can identify you personally.
Commitment to data security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, the Association has put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial safeguards to secure the information we collect online. This Web site has industry standard security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. While there is no such thing as "perfect security" on the Internet, we will take reasonable steps to insure the safety of your personal information.
Our Credit Card Policy
The Association considers the issue of your financial privacy seriously. The Association provides your credit card number, billing and shipping information to participating merchants from whom you buy goods or services within our system. In some cases these Merchants will ask you to provide this information directly in other cases we will provide this information for them, which you will be asked to confirm. Merchants are solely responsible for how they use that information and any other information they acquire from you or about you. Please review each Credit Card policy for every merchant you choose to engage throughout our system. Otherwise, we do not share your credit card information with anyone else. For more information, please read our Privacy Policy above.
To protect the security of your credit card information, we employ the industry-standard SSL technology. The Association also encrypts credit card numbers when we store orders and whenever the Association transfers that information to participating merchants. For other than ongoing (annually) automatic billings, we do not store complete credit card numbers in our system.
